Biogrāfija

Feeling the groove?
Feeling depressed?
Feeling silly?
Feel like something sweet?
Feeling dreamy?

"Sanagi" is japanese and means cocoon. Lene Toje and Robin Sato formed Sanagi in Liverpool 2002, where both studied music at the "Pop-University" LIPA (Liverpool Institute for performing Arts) and met. Robin Sato, from Japan, represents the instrumental part of Sanagi, through programming and the world of electronica (and if you doubt electronic music can be performed live, you have to go see him turning his knobs and shaking his booty!). Words and melodies are created by the voice and songwriter of Sanagi, Lene Toje from Norway. She's using her voice in different ways, trying to fit the emotion and message of the song, which sometimes sounds soft, sometimes rough, then childish or crazy. Her appearance on stage gives you the feeling to be in a musictale which is grounded in the soundscapes mastered by Robin. A tale sometimes sad, but rich, full of life, then funny and making you smile - definetely dramatic and definetely danceable. Sanagi's music can be described as organic electro with a hint of trip hop, experimental edge and humour. They have diverse range in material, which goes from sweet, silly and beautiful, to upbeat with a hard edge.

„To simplify matters we call it electro-pop. Nevertheless, we believe that everyone understands music that expresses more than one mood.“

Two Germany tours behind them, Sanagi are now based in Berlin, where their previously self-released debut album "MishMash" (though visitors of their early gigs also know lovely burned CDs with innersleeves printed on japanese paper :-) got re-released on Traumton Records late 2006. Like many Labels, you can find this also at the iTunes Musicstore - but Sanagi also added a (free) Podcast, where you can find some nice Music-videos as some, hum, really silly ones :-))

"Hello, I’m Lene, I’m groovy, I’m funky,
and really really really really extremely nerdy.
Hello this is Robin, he’s the master of
the groove and he’s just hehehehhe.
yeah, whatever, yeah whaterver...
-Chorus:-
Lovin’ it, lovin’ it, lovin’ it; our way,
Going to give the groove no matter what they say, yeeah.
yeah, whatever, yeah whatever..."

Cocoon also stands for development of beauty.
Enjoy.
