Meinardas Brazaitis, Biography
Family
Meinardas Brazaitis was born on april 27, 1974 in Kaunas (Lithuania) to famous Lithuanian musicians Rimantas Brazaitis and Janina Miščiukaitė (1948-2008). Father Rimantas is a saxophone player, well known in the Lithuanian jazz scene. Mother Janina was a hugely recognised pop singer. She was the Lithuanian record holder, as a performer, who won most nominations in music festivals. It comes without saying that music has always been a big thing in this family.
Music education
Since 1980 Meinardas took jazz saxophone classes in Balys Dvarionas music school for children in Vilnius. In 1991 he started studying in Vilnius Conservatoire, Jazz department, saxophone class and later switched to drums class.
Music career
In his teenage years Meinardas gets interested in playing drums and hard rock music. Later, studying in conservatoire, he formed a heavy metal band "Ghostorm", were he performed as a drummer and showed his songwriting skills. Together with the band they recorded an album in Sweden, which was released by a German publishing company "Black Mark production".
After the death of the Lithuanian death metal scene (), Meinardas became an active performer who played drums with many differend Lithuanian jazz outfits, as well as famous pop/rock artists. Together with singers Česlovas Gabalis and Rosita Čivilytė he played a lot of concerts all around Holand.
In 1998 he joyned the then very well known Lithuanian pop band "Naktinės personos" and went for a tour with them around Lithuania. There were 30 sold out concerts, and not less than 15000 viewers attended the gigs!
From 1999 Meinardas is a member of Andrius Mamontovas band.
Andrius Mamontovas is legendary and by any means the most popular pop music performer, composer and producer in Lithuania. Andrius is the guy who had biggest live gig in this country (60000 tickeds sold), and there is not a single year when he is not nominated for at least a few of the Lithuanian music awards. Andrius has also reached international fame as an actor.

As you can see, playing with Andrius Mamontovas means always being on top of popularity in Lithuania, since his band is the most succesfull live performing band in this country. Every year they have at least a few live gigs for audiences bigger than 7000, many performances on TV (some are live, many in prime time), and a lot of live concerts in clubs all over the country and abroad. In recent years the band played concerts Italy, Sweeden, Denmark, Finland, England, Ireland, USA, France, Holand, Germany, Belgium etc.
Andrius Mamontovas, with Meinardas and the band, was the opening act for Brian Adams and Sting concerts in Vilnius, Lithuania.
With Andrius, Meinardas recorded a few acoustic albums and they still work together.
Awards
In 1999 Meinardas won the annual "Bravo" award (it's the Lithuanian "Grammy") as the best instrumentalist of 1998.
Other interests
From 2001 Meinardas teaches drums in a private school. 2004 he started working as sound designer. Now he creates music and sounds for advertisements for some of the biggest brands in Lithuania (telecommunication company "Omnitel", bank Snoras), some smaller companies, as well as MTV Baltic.
