The Czech Republic Open Tournament for Children, Juniors and Adults was held on April 6th, 2013 in Novy Bydzov, Czech Republic organized by Branch Chief Jan Soukup. 100 members participated in the tournament which was well organized with good fights, techniques and Kyokushin spirit.
The "2013 The 5th World Weight Category Karate Championships" was held on April 28th at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. 16 fighters in each of the 4 weight categories (total 64 fighters) gathered from around the world to fight for the World's No.1 in Karate Weight Category. In a tournament where the best fighters from around the world participated, Takaichi Onuma (JAPAN) won the light weight, Zenjyuro Mori (JAPAN) the middle weight, Alejandro Navarro (SPAIN) the heavy weight and Shoki Arata (JAPAN) the super heavy weight. Japan maintained their previous success from the 4th World Weight Championships 4 years ago, by producing champions in 3 categories.

IKO Kyokushinkaikan founder Sosai Masutatsu Oyama's 19th memorial service was held at the Mitsumine Shrine in Saitama Pref. on Monday, April 29th. This year the International Friendship and World Weight Category tournament was held for 3 days from April 26th, the day Sosai passed away, so the memorial service was held after the tournament on April 29th.
230 members took part in this memorial service which included IKO President Kancho Shokei Matsui, Shihan Yuzo Goda, IKO officials, Branch Chiefs from all over Japan and overseas, all members who went to the International Training Camp and headquarter staff. Participants together gave prayers to the founder of Kyokushin karate. The memorial sevice started with a prayer Shinto style then members moved to the "Soreisha" where Sosai Oyama's spirit rest and finished by paying respect to Sosai's Monument.

The 2013 Women's World Karate Championships was held at the Tokyo Gymnasium on April 27th &28th. The light weight final was the same as last year with Elena Vorobeva (RUSSIA) facing Natsuki Ota (JAPAN). Ota won 5-0 by decision in the first extra time. In the middle weight 5 time champion Anastasia Khripunova (RUSSIA) lost to the 2011 Women's Open 2nd place Julie Lamarre (CANADA) in the semi finals. In the final Julie Lamarre (CANADA) fought last years 2nd place Yuma Tazaki (JAPAN) and won 4-0 by decision in the main round. In the heavy weight 3 time champion Agnieszka Sypien (POLAND) lost in the quarter final and the final was against new comer Miyu Kagaya (JAPAN) and Uliana Grebenshchikova (RUSSIA). Uliana Grebenshchikova (RUSSIA) came from behind to win 4-0 by decision in the main round to claim her first title. There were new champions at all 3 categories in the 2013 Women's World Karate Championships.

A training camp was held on April 5th, 2013 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia organized and led by Branch Chief Shihan Adnan Tarsha. The program of the camp included three different training sessions: Kihon, Ido, Self-defense, and a variety of strengthening exercises. Also there was a special training session for the two participants in the World Youth Elite Tournament in Japan in April.
The 11th Herat Afghanistan Selection Karate Tournament was held on March 30th, 2013 in Herat city, Afghanistan organized by Branch Chief Sensei Abdul Azim Farhang. 109 members participated in the Kumite and Kata category from 12 dojo's in Herat city. Participants were from different age groups and belt categories.

The 9th Weight Category Tournament for Youth, Man and Women and the 4th Weight Category Tournament for Seniors were held on March 17th, 2013 in Varna, Bulgaria organized by Branch Chief Sensei Emil Kostov. 100 fighters participated including the Serbian team accompanied by Branch Chief Sensei Zarko Petkovic. The tournament was well organized with the atmosphere filled with Kyokushin spirit and the final fights were a close contest in all categories.
