Jaunumi

A while back I was moaning about the lousy Internet service provider. I called them up to make a complaint and see what was going on. After what seemed like endless hours on the phone, they finished checking my line and promised to fix it asap. I was quite sceptical at first as I have heard similar promises before and they came to nothing. I was certain that they were just paying lip service to me (to say that you agree with something but do nothing to support it). However, I was wrong as the next morning my Internet connection was running like clockwork (to function very well) again. I do hope it lasts.
Not that long ago I was planning to take some time off to recharge my batteries. And today I did just that. It turned out to be a perfect day for lounging about (be lazy) with a mug of steaming coffee, some chocolate (for my sweet tooth) and a great book. Staying at home was just what the doctor ordered. It means that taking time off was exactly what I needed at the moment. This has perked me up and I am ready for another busy week.

Having a moan

  • 17. apr 12:22
Today I feel like having a moan and the reason for my complaint is the Internet service provider. It is the pits (the worst, unpleasant)-the connection either drops or disappears altogether. During Easter weekend the internet connection was non-existent and I ended up being late with the blog. I have had enough of this lousy (very bad, unpleasant) service and paying through the nose (paying a lot or too much). I am swapping providers as soon as my contract expires.
Although spring is officially here, London has been experiencing a cold spell for over a week. It’s a sharp contrast to the sunshine we were basking in more than a week ago. Besides changeable weather, springtime often brings tiredness that affects a huge number of people. It has affected me too-I am feeling out of sorts, so low in energy that I can hardly lift a finger. The fact that I have been working a lot does not help. I need to find a way to perk myself up (regain my good spirits or liveliness)  a bit. My hols in May seem very far way. They say-all work and play makes Jill a dull girl. It means that a person who works too much becomes bored and boring. I think it’s time I took a couple of days off and did nothing.

Projekta JOYN2.0 ietvaros ir izstrādātas vadlīnijas valodu mācīšanai sociālajos tīklos. Ar vadlīnijām var iepazīties "Baltic Bright" mājas lapā:

Hello in 2012!

  • 9. jan 09:32

I hope you had a great celebration and that you are well on your way with fulfilling your resolutions.

The year of the Dragon brought gales (strong winds) and heavy rain to London. I did not feel like leaving home; the idea of staying in with a cup of tea and an interesting book was extremely tempting. However, it was not time for chilling; two of my colleagues are under the weather, what with (because of) another wave of flu and cold going around. I had to pull myself together and get on with it. On my way to work my umbrella broke from the heavy wind, so I need to go and shop around for a new one. After the festive period the majority of people are hard up (broke), so every quid (pound) counts. While we are on the topic of dosh, some slangy words to learn this time: fiver (five pounds) and tenner (ten pounds).

Hope you find it useful. Take care.

Roll on New Year!

  • 1. jan 21:40

Before the clock strikes midnight, there is still some time to reflect on the things that happened this year and make some New Year’s resolutions (things to achieve next year). I can reveal one of mine- I wish to spend some quality time becoming a healthier and happier person. It will also have a good impact on those around me, be it home or work. I have joined the gym and cannot wait to start. As we know exercise keeps you fit, makes you happy (think of all those endorphins released during workout) and beats stress. I don’t think I will become a gym bunny (somebody spending a huge amount of time in the gym); however, I plan to visit it at least twice a week. 2011 was a pretty good year and I am sure that 2012 will be even better. I would like to continue to be on top of things at work and at home. As for the rest, who knows what is on the cards for 2012? There is only one way to find out. Roll on 2012!

Happy New Year and cheers!

Ho ho ho

  • 25. dec 2011 17:38

If you hear this sound, Santa Claus is around, so hurry up and put your Christmas stocking out. Christmas Eve is a busy one for him and his little helpers. There are so many places to visit, so many gifts to deliver. What a busy bee he is. If you have been good this year, he will drop by your place tonight and leave a gift for you to open in the morning. Whether you are a Christmas lover or a Christmas humbug (fake, deception, nonsense but can mean somebody who hates Christmas), I hope you have a jolly good (very good) time. After all, Christmas is the opportunity to spend some quality time with your nearest and dearest (family). When you spend quality time with somebody, you pay full attention to show that you value the person, which is vital for sustaining a good relationship.

Have a good one!
