MAYA (Maija Vidovska) composed her first musical piece when she was only 6 years old. It was waltz for piano (both hands). Simple, but very melodic, so her dad decided to take little Maya to music school where she could develop her abilities and maybe some day become a great musician... Maya had an ambitious goals in music from the first day in the school. She learned to play several instruments (flute, alto sax, piano) and took singing lessons. Her bent for producing own music began when she found exciting to borrow mics, synthesizers and equipment from local musicians and record her songs in the tape - recorder. When Maya was 15 years old, she was noticed as a singer by some Riga record producers and became a member of Latvian girl's band. After graduate from music primary school flute class Maya decided to develop her singing skills and became a student of Riga 100. secondary school vocal class. This school was important because of it’s specialization in rock music and jazz and left deeply impressing marks in Mayas sence of music forever. At this time Maya met many important people, worked as a back vocalist in popular Latvian music projects, participated in many recordings and became a lead vocalist of progressive new age rock band „T.C. Fox”. Band was quite successful and took first prizes in a number of local rock music festivals as well as Maya was noticed as the best lead vocal for several times. In 2004. Maya moved to neighbouring country Lithuania and spent almost 4 years studying jazz flute in Vilnius collage department of popular music and later in Lithuania Music and Theatre academy. At this time Maya participated in famous Lithuanian electronic music band’s „FusedMarc” recordings and gigs as a flutist. In the end of 2007. Maya returned to her home country for role that she had in one of the greatest stagings in Latvia ever – musical „West Side Story” by L. Bernstein. In 2008. Maya graduated from „Riga Rhythm institute” digital producing courses and started her producer’s career. First commission as a producer she got from local TV and produced sound tracks for news and sports broadcast. Her first remix took 4th place in competition for latvian producers and Dj’ s „Club night” in 2008.
2010. Maya moved to Bristol UK - city of trip-hop. She was noticed not only as a talented trip-hop producer, but as well as flutist and improviser and has released recordings alongside best UK's reggae artists and solo as a reggae/dub flutist.
