Unfortunately, the Latvian media and the local Latvians knows very little about Pakistan and have always thought negatively about Pakistan & Islam. The purpose of this page http://www.draugiem.lv/pakistan is to provide the reader with the positive image of Pakistan's culture and traditions.

Pakistan's reputation has been greatly demaged by Talibans (the muslim religious extremists). Taliban (meaning in Pashto: students) are collection of uneducated muslim terrorists and extremists that have gathered from states like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Arabs from Middle east. Talibans attack and kill innocent Muslims in Pakistan by commiting suicide bombings in the name of Islam, by making Islam as their Political agenda.

It is very unfortunate that Talibans are Muslims, although Talibans have nothing to do with Islam at all. They force their own private and inhuman laws that are against the teachings of Islam. Talibans gang rape and torture women and small boys. They force women to wear burka and terrorize them for staying at home. Women are not allowed to get education and medical treatment.

Islam is a very peaceful religion that prohibits extremism and torture of mankind. It is due to bad deeds of Talibans that Pakistan & Islam currently faces bad reputation around the world.

Pakistanis realise the fact that Talibans are aggressive terrorists whose actions are against the teachings of Islam and do not comply with the interests of Government of Pakistan. There is a great hatered for Talibans among educated Pakistanis.

Talibāni (no pašto val. – students) ir neizglītotu islāma teroristu un ekstrēmistu grupējums, kas nākuši no Tadžikistānas, Uzbekistānas, Turkmenistānas, Paštonu ciltīm un Arābijas. Talibāni uzbrūk nevainīgiem musulmaņiem no Pakistānas, uzspridzinoties islāma vārdā, pasludinot Islāmu par savu politisko mērķi.

Diemžēl talibāni ir musulmaņi, taču ar islāma ticību viņiem nav nekādas saistības. Viņi izvirza paši savus likumus, kas ir pretstatā gan pamata izglītībai, gan sieviešu un bērnu aizsardzībai.

Islāms ir ļoti mierīga reliģija, kurai nav nekāda sakara ar ekstrēmismu un cilvēku mocībām. Talibānu rīcība absolūti izkropļo priekšstatu par Islāmu un patieso šīs reliģijas būtību.

The Pakistani Community in Latvia (Schengen) comprises of Engineers, Doctors, Students, Family members of Latvian Citizens and Labours living in different cities of Latvia. According to Immigration statistics 2010, around 54 Pakistanis reside in Latvia (with Latvian Residence Permit).

Pakistani students have been coming to Latvia for studies since 1992. More than 180 Pakistanis have graduated from Latvian Universities including; Riga Technical University RTU, Riga Aviation University, Latvian Medical Academy, Riga Business School & University of Latvia.

      Yes, it is agreed there are several Pakistanis who migrate to Europe and marry to obtain residence permits for better furture. Usually they have uneducated background.

      Not every Pakistani comes to Europe for fake marriages or better future, some Pakistanis are from civilised and decent families.

      The same thing is about Latvia, all Latvians are not the same. For example crime rate is much higher in Latvia among East european states, so what should I say that all Latvians are criminals?

      So, you cannot judge whole Pakistan on basis of few Pakistanis who do criminal acts in Ireland or in Latvia.
